Finding halal food in Niagara Falls NY: a visitor's guide to eating near the Falls

You came for the Falls, not for a 20-minute drive to dinner. Here's the halal option in the middle of the tourist district.

Millions of people visit Niagara Falls every year, and a huge number of them are looking for the same thing at dinnertime: trustworthy halal food in Niagara Falls NY, close enough to the attractions that nobody has to get back in the car. The good news — if you're staying anywhere near the American side's tourist district, you're a short walk from a fully halal kitchen: Lahori Shawarma, the Pakistani street food truck at 360 Rainbow Blvd.

Where we are, relative to the sights

Rainbow Blvd runs right through the heart of the Niagara Falls, NY tourist district — it's the street most visitors walk or drive along between their hotel and the park. Our truck sits at 360 Rainbow Blvd, minutes on foot from the Niagara Falls State Park entrances, the Rainbow Bridge border crossing and the downtown hotels. If you've just finished the Maid of the Mist or watched the evening illumination, you don't need directions so much as a two-block walk.

Is it actually halal?

The question every travelling Muslim family asks, and fair enough. At Lahori Shawarma, every meat dish is halal-prepared — this is a halal Pakistani kitchen run the way our family has always cooked, not a menu with one or two "halal option" items. We serve chicken and lamb only, no beef and no pork anywhere on the truck. Vegetarian dishes (paneer parathas, daal, samosa) share the same kitchen standards. More detail lives on our halal food in Niagara Falls page if you want the full FAQ before you order.

Know before you go: we're a truck

Set expectations correctly — this is a food truck, takeout and delivery only. There's no dine-in seating and no restroom, so the move is to grab your food and find a spot: benches around the state park, the grassy areas near the Falls, or simply back in your hotel room. Honestly, a hand-rolled shawarma eaten within earshot of the Falls beats most table service. If the weather turns, we deliver to hotels across the Niagara Falls area — call (215) 650-1391.

What to order after a day of sightseeing

The crowd-pleasers travel well. The Chicken Shawarma ($15.99) is our signature wrap — fresh off the spit, garlic sauce, pickles, easy to eat standing up; here's why locals call it the best shawarma in Niagara Falls. Hungrier? The rice bowls all come with a drink: Butter Chicken Rice ($17.99) is our specialty and the dish we'd hand any first-time visitor, while Chicken Over Rice ($15.99) is the reliable classic. Feeding kids or mixed diets? Vegetarian parathas ($11.99), samosa ($7.99) and a round of mango lassi ($7.99) cover everyone. Full prices are on the menu.

Coming over from the Canadian side?

Plenty of visitors do the Falls from both countries in one day. If you're crossing the Rainbow Bridge on foot back to the American side, Rainbow Blvd is the street you land on — which puts our truck a few minutes' walk from the border crossing. It's a genuinely useful thing to know at the end of a long sightseeing day: clear the bridge, call in your order, and it's coming off the spit by the time you reach 360 Rainbow Blvd.

Open late — later than most of the strip

Attractions here run into the evening, and many kitchens close before the crowds do. We stay open until 11:30 PM Monday–Friday, midnight on Saturday and 11 PM on Sunday, which makes us one of the latest fresh halal options in the tourist district. That matters when you cross back from the Canadian side at 10 PM and everything else is dark.
